Work with God to heal yourself!
We’ve often heard that human beings utilize only a tiny fraction of our brain power, but in recent years a wonderful movement has been afoot which encompasses a much stronger pull toward using the power of our minds to a greater extent. We now understand how focused thought and creative visualization can enable us to see goals accomplished and miracles occur. No longer the realm of only highly trained yoga masters or supernatural religions, the brain power we all possess is becoming more and more available to us as we learn how to harness that power and begin to see the evidence before us.
It begs the question, what else can the power of the mind achieve? Could it be used to heal our bodies and our health? There are so many ailments that can affect the human body, and for every ailment there is a medical treatment of some kind. Often the medicine’s side effects can be worse than the condition it is meant to treat. What if we could use the power of our God given minds to envision perfect health and then have it manifest in our bodies? Wouldn’t that be wonderful? What if you are actually the one holding the key to your own healing, wouldn’t that be awesome?
This idea is not new by any means. The placebo effect is one such example of the mind-body connection. In an attempt to test the efficacy of a new drug, doctors and scientists would set up trials using two groups of test subjects. One group of subjects were given the medication while the other group were given a simple sugar pill. Both groups were told they had received the medication, but scientists expected to see healing effects only in the group that had actually been taking the real drug. For years they were puzzled when they found test subjects ended up finding healing even with a sugar pill (the placebo). Rather than the medication being the most effective treatment, sometimes it is whether or not the patients has faith and whether or not they believe that God will actually heal them that actually brings them health and healing. Sometimes no matter how much you believe, healing does not occur if it’s not God’s will to heal and restore health.
Of course there are many medical treatments which are highly advantageous in saving a person’s life, but there are additional tactics which can intensify treatment. Many medical facilities already employ the tactic of healing visualization with patients. The Simonton Cancer Center is one such facility that uses image therapy as part of their cancer treatment. We have no affiliation with this center, but we are using this center to cite as an example of a facility that uses image therapy. Dr. Simonton is a graduate of the Silva Center which teaches these techniques in great detail.
Can you use the power of your God given mind to heal your ailment and change your body? Sometimes, yes. So instead of going from Dr. to Dr. and taking pill after pill to get your healing, why not use your God given mind to work with God to heal yourself? If you do this be aware that God may lead you to make lifestyle changes to help bring about your healing if it is His will for you to be healed this way.
If you want to try working with God to bring about healing, William Braud outlined five major mental techniques that he believed you could use to work with God to help bring about self-healing: The 5 steps are shown below;
1. Practice relaxation, visualizing yourself healed and seek quietness as you visualise.
2. Learn to focus your attention on one thing (e.g. breathing), which allows you to develop mental self-control and avoid distractions.(The above two points are achieved through meditation).
3. Learn visualization or imagery techniques of seeing yourself healed since pictures are the preferred language of the mind.
4. Incorporate intent in the process, think of some goal you would like to reach as a result of visualizing your healing. Have faith in God that your expectations to be healed will be met.
5. Try to muster up strong positive emotions during your visualizations of self healing. Choose to believe and pray that God does really want you well, healed and healthy. Invite God to be present when you visualize your healing, ask Him to speak to you and show you how best to bring about the healing that you desire, if it’s His will.
6. Give God time to work in your situations to help lead you on how to become healed and healthy. Have fun and enjoy the journey you’re on with God! Believe Exodus 15:26 that states, “I am the Lord who Heals you ” both in body and in soul, by preserving from diseases.
