Have you ever wondered, as we all have at some point and time why we are here and what God wants us to do with the life He has given us? We know that we’ve all had some “defining” moments where we’ve wondered why we are here and what God wants us to do with our lives. What about you, have you ever wondered why you are here or why you are going through what you are going through? In the precise moments that such questions arise, we are reminded of Proverbs 3:1-4 which says “ My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation”. Even though this scripture doesn’t tell us why we are here on Earth, it gives us great insight on how we should live and behave as we walk with God trying to figure out why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing.

Although we all may not know or understand why we are here and what our purpose might be, God wants us all to lean on Him for any understanding that we might need. He wants us to trust in Him and be confident that He will guide us and teach us what we need to know when we need to know it. God doesn’t want you relying only on your own insight or understanding, because sometimes what appears to be is not always what actually is. God knows of any hidden snares or traps surrounding any and all things that you may be involved in or may be considering. Proverbs 3:5 states “In all your ways know, recognize and acknowledge God, He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Be not wise in our own eyes, reverently fear and worship the Lord, and turn entirely away from evil. It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones. Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency from righteous labors, and with the first fruits of all your income.” (Proverbs 3: 1-9).

If you ever need understanding of your purpose in life or why you may be going through what you are going through, if you get some time on your hands, turn to your Bible, for so much wisdom is hidden in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible, you need only look and read to find the tucked away wisdom of the Bible. You’d be surprised at how many people have already been through what you are going through when you read the scriptures. When you read the scriptures their stories will come alive to you and you will get a chance to see how they felt, read what they did and learn how God responded and answered them in their times of despair and distress. This will help you get through any “rough” times or “rough” patches in your life as you wait on God to answer or deliver you!

The scriptures are also nuggets of gold that will enlighten your pathways and change any darkness that hovers over your pathway to light when you read them. You may have to read and re-read the scriptures many, many times in order to have them take root in your heart and then bear fruit in your thoughts and activities each day. Invite God to join you when you begin to read the scriptures, ask Him to illuminate to you any thing that He wants you to see or understand that pertains to your life. Ask God to help you find scriptures that tell you why you are here and why you may be going through what you are going through as you read the scriptures.
